The impacts of climate change are already being felt – most acutely by millions of the world’s poorest people. They are already facing hunger, disease and conflict linked to climate change. We help people (Child and Youth) in the plains, hills and urban areas of Nepal to make short multimedia story about how climate change is being experienced by their communities. Making these films allowed them to explore how the changing climate is impacting them and their families, how they are coping and what they need in order to adapt to a changing climate.

This day was celebrated with new and innovative action through Open Projection of 10 environment and climate change related great story documentary(film). These documentaries were prepared by the youth groups for local awareness on environmental conservation. It showed the changing livelihood of different parts of Nepal. The solar documentary show was chaired by Chief Guest Mr. Prem Suwal, former Mayor of Bhaktapur municipality. In the Program he said that it is our pride to start such a program from our historic city and also blame developed country for polluting the environment. The guests from different organization participated in this solar show. District education officer also participated in the Program. The program was followed by ten short documentaries. The show followed with interaction with the local viewers and the directors of the documentaries. The different shows were as below:

1. A walk with Anil Chitrakar: this documentary was mainly focused on the heritage walk in different heritage sites and this is one of those sites. The walk is mainly targeted on the sharing of tradition and culture with the foreigners. This will be helpful in promoting tourism in Bhaktapur as well as in different heritage sites.

2. Jeopardy: this documentary was based on the environmental consequences due to anthropogenic activities. It is on deforestation and its ultimate impact on the environment. The impact of urbanization, human settlement, industrial emission and degrading environment makes the earth unliveable.

3. My Green Home: this documentary shows the importance of child education to prevent environmental degradation. Educating one child means educating one house which will ultimately educate the whole family. Children are more conscious towards environment and this will help to prevent environment for the future.

4. Mero Karma: it shows the social responsibility of the individuals towards our universe. It is because of human impact which is causing green house effect, pollution, toxicity, infertility of soil, over population and high emission of CO2 which is consequently impacting on global warming which is causing melting of ice and glacier lake outburst and Rise in sea level making the human life more miserable. So steps should be taken to evacuate human life on the earth. This documentary is mainly targeted to make the people think, understand and act to make better life on the earth and to prevent earth from pollution.

5. Briquette Koila: this documentary is on the alternative energy for the cooking fuel. At present people are using natural fuel for cooking and heating purposes but using briquette we can save natural fuel. The briquette is made from common woody weed. This documentary was mainly on how to make such briquette to reduce the use of natural fuel.

6. Think Eco Logically: this documentary was dedicated to those who love and care about this planet and also to those who don’t. In present context water is lacking and this is a story of a woman living in Kathmandu who makes every drop count. This documentary is mainly to convey a message on wise use of water to save the water for the future. Let’s follow concept of 3R, use the paper properly, refill drink bottle, develop eco-friendly eating habits and every generation is Eco-Responsible Generation so think Eco logically.

7. Act Now: environmental conservation is our great challenge and it’s our responsibility to make healthy environment. So this documentary was mainly focused on the human behaviour towards the environment and for environmental awareness one should be self motivated and should start eco friendly behaviour. And there is always a solution for the pollution (problem).

8. Macha Macha: After being unable to get fish for their livelihood, the villagers are making arrangements to go to Trishuli, Marsyangdi, Kali Gandaki and Budhi Gandaki in search of gold. Although this sounds like a normal happening. This is not something very normal. Although rich in greenery and natural beauty we have been careless to preserve our natural resources and have neglected ourselves being concerned of climate change. The fishes in Madi river have not vanished just for no reason. There are various reasons attached to it. The practice of fishing using electricity, the tendency of throwing industrial and human waste has affected the fishes living there and the organisms that fish depend on to survive to make survival possible for many Karna Bahadur Botes of this area. It is clearly evident that the fishes are vanishing from this region due to unleashed fishing, i.e. no barrier in the amount of fishing that can be done as there is no authority to monitor it. This is an alarm to prevent fishes being an extinct species from other regions to. So it is time for everyone to be alert and preserve the natural resources upon which many lives are still dependent on.

9. Help us get Facebook to unfriend coal:

10. 3 cs of Climate Change:

Conclusion:

The solar documentary show was performed by using the solar backup without using the electricity supplied by Nepal Electricity Authority. For this Gham power provide us two solar panel and four batteries to make the program successful. The show was observed by more than 10 thousand local people and the guests. The show was quite successful to demonstrate the alternative for the load shedding problem. It also conveys the message on the environmental consequences and environmental conservation. It also shows the local impact of global warming and climatic change. The interaction between the directors of documentary and the local people make the people more clear on the objectives of the documentary. The presence of local governmental body in the show will also help in conveying the message through making rule and regulation in future. The show was able to deliver the message of 350 ppm value to the viewers.

The official wiki, barcamp.org, defines BarCamp as “an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.” Put simply, it is an informal, user-generated, social gathering where attendees are encouraged to get involved either by hosting a session or joining in on discussions. The event is comprised of discussions, demos and interaction from participants.

BarCamp primarily operates as a platform where raw, innovative ideas and concepts get nurtured. A person or group of people from any discipline with a novel idea is welcome to share it at BarCamp. Through interaction with participants, raw ideas get analyzed, refined and advanced. There is also opportunity for collaboration among participants who can and are willing to contribute towards development of the idea. For those attending, networking is not limited to exchanging business cards but also exchanging ideas with a potential for collaboration. As such, BarCamp is the perfect hunting ground for Venture Capitalists looking to fund the next big idea or for entreprenuers in search of talent to help grow their businesses.
